STROBING PROPELLANT #2 (BLUE)
SOURCE: Greg Gallacci.
COMMENTS: The GE silicone II is noted for having an ammonia-like odor, where the GE silicones smell more like vinegar. The dimensions of the rocket made with this propellant were 1 1/8" ID, with a 1/2" core.
PREPARATION (parts by weight):
CHEMICAL | PERCENT/PARTS | AMOUNT |
Ammonium perchlorate | 0.630
Silicone II | 0.220 | |
Copper (II) oxide | 0.100
PVC | 0.050 | |
Total |
Mix the copper oxide, PVC, and silicone first, in a plastic bag. Then mix in the ammonium perchlorate. This propellant is said to be somewhat "crumbly," and presses well.
